Volunteering at school

Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your child’s education as well as get to know the staff and other parents and carers.

Research shows that children benefit when their parents or carers are actively involved in their education and school life.

You can help by:

  • listening to children read in the classroom
  • volunteering on sports days
  • helping supervise excursions
  • getting involved in fundraising activities
  • joining school committees.

Parents and community members are valued as an integral part of Epping Heights Public School. There are numerous roles that parent and community volunteers can be involved in to support the school in its core business of improving learning outcomes for students.  This includes being a parent helper in classrooms, on excursions, at sports carnivals, at school events, for band etc

Our thorough helper induction process helps reassure all parents that everyone who volunteers in our school has been through a rigorous process and is safe before working with our students.

Helpers are required to:

1. Attend an induction via Zoom or in person as advertised on enews and in newsletters

2. Complete the Declaration for Child related workers. The form is attached, available at our office or you can access at the link below. Parent volunteers are exempt from the Working with Children Check (WWCC) requirement and should complete all relevant sections in this form, including part 1, part 3 and part 4 (section C).

Please note that this form has been updated and a new form will be required for everyone this year.
